For Aristeu Pires’ inaugural chair design, he considered the needs of his elderly father. A victim of Parkinson’s, his father needed elbow support to prop up and read the morning newspaper as he sat in the outdoor sunlight. It also had to be easy to slide into and get up from. The arms, set at a perfect height, accommodate an espresso cup on its flat surface. Taut cording enables breeze to flow for ultimate comfort while basking in the morning sun. Recognized for its elegance and lightness, the chair won first place in the furniture category at the 21st Museu da Casa Brasileira Awards in 2007.
